What are Pollutants? And how can we protect ourselves from it?

During this Covid19 pandemic, people are spending more time at home. But, do you know our homes, car, and offices are more polluted than the environment outside? According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in the United States, we are spending more than 80% of our lives indoors.

This air can be up to 100 times more toxic than the outside air. Indoor air pollution is 2 to 5 times more polluted than outdoor pollution, but due to the time spent indoors and in concentration, it can become 100 times worse, and this compromise the quality of life and health.

Indoor Pollutants

Some pollutants have increased in recent decades due to such factors as energy-efficient building construction and increased use of synthetic building materials, furnishings, personal care products, pesticides, and household cleaners which form the bulk of VOC (volatile organic compound).

Ironically, people who are often most susceptible to the adverse effects of pollution (e.g., people with a weakened immune system or cardiovascular or respiratory disease) tend to spend even more time indoors.

While trying to solve the problem of indoor pollutants, many of us scramble for an air purifier, some of which cost nearly $1,000 to remove harmful pollutants like VOC’s. The latest air-purifier or air-cleaner (as some may call it), does not come cheap and the filter must be changed constantly for it to be effective. Some models may be slightly nosy, and it is no comfort to those who are sensitive to sound. In this circular economy where sustainability and carbon reduction are all so important, you will find that these air purifiers do not fit into the equation as it needs electric power.

What is Zio Magic Fabric?

Zio Magic Fabric is a new & patented fabric made of nanotechnology that removes external pollutants, VOC, bacteria, virus and odour. It needs little maintenance and does not use electrical energy or batteries to operate. As Zio Magic is fabric based, it could be used in various form for car, homes and offices.

How Does it Work?

Zio Magic Fabric consist of an enveloping / filtering perimeter membrane, made of 100% polyester fabric, modified with activated molecules for killing bacteria and viruses. The structure allows a solid external construction that acts as a casing for the adsorbent part contained within the carbon membrane.

The external coating made of a polyester fabric allows the first degree of filtration on the dust, to use the internal activated carbon technology.

The air, thanks to its natural flow, touches tangentially and/or passes through the 3 layers becoming purer and more breathable.
